Job summary

Kapsch TrafficCom is seeking a Traffic Management Center (TMC) Operator to monitor roadway conditions and coordinate incident responses at the Gateway Guide TMC in Chesterfield, MO. This full-time role supports real-time data dissemination and public traveler information, requiring attention to detail and strong teamwork.

The position offers a 40-hour workweek on AM/PM shifts, with benefits and opportunities within a growing ITS field.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with Windows-based systems and comfort working on a multi-monitor workstation.
• Ability to type quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
• High School diploma or GED required; college degree/related experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Willingness to work holidays and weekends in a 24/7 operation.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.

Responsibilities

• Operate ITS technologies including cameras, sensors, and information systems to monitor traffic conditions.
• Identify and track incidents using CCTV, patrol and police reports, and other data sources.
• Coordinate and dispatch responses to roadway incidents via radio, phone, or internal systems.
• Input and manage data in real-time systems, maintaining accurate records of incidents and response actions.
• Assist with compiling traffic and incident data for reports including travel time, incident summaries, and equipment status.
• Provide traveler information to the public through variable message signs, websites, and partner agencies.
• Work collaboratively with teammates, first responders, and other stakeholders to manage daily operations.
