Job summary

Gulf Winds International Inc. is seeking a Terminal Manager to oversee the Houston terminal operations and dispatch group. You will manage driver retention, scheduling execution, equipment utilization, and cost control to meet margins and KPI targets.

The role requires coordinating with Safety, Driver Recruitment, Customer Service, and Sales to service drivers and customers while driving continuous improvements and profitability.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and written skills for interfacing with customers and internal teams.
• Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of transportation industry, logistics, preferably Houston market.
• Good understanding of margins and driver pay.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Experience leading and evaluating team performance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day dispatch and scheduling operations with the team.
• Set daily dispatch priorities to meet targets.
• Coordinate with Safety, Driver Recruitment, Customer Service, and Sales to support drivers and customers.
• Manage driver costs and productivity.
• Know the GWI dispatch process to dispatch as needed.
• Monitor volumes, capacity, KPIs, and customer requirements.
• Communicate freight needs to scheduling group.
• Track company assets and coordinate with M&R and management.
• Resolve conflicts between contractors and dispatch within policies.
• Manage P&L and margins to improve terminal profitability.
• Participate in new Key Account/Contract business initiatives.
• Maintain service levels for drivers and customers.
• Achieve driver retention goals within transportation operations.
• Maintain relationships with independent contractors to retain fleet.
• Promote a culture of Operational Excellence focused on safety and quality.
• Develop and coach transportation team; establish succession plans.
• Drive employee engagement within the team.
• Manage quarterly KPI’s for team to support company goals.
• Oversee personnel needs and performance management.
• Ensure the facility and grounds are maintained and stocked with supplies.
