Job summary

State of Minnesota's Transportation Department seeks Temporary Snowplow Operators across multiple districts. Roles include Transportation Generalist or Transportation Associate, with emergency, intermittent, seasonal shifts during snow/ice events.

Positions involve night and weekend work, CDL requirements, and strict drug/testing policies. Locations include Albert Lea, Austin, Dresbach, Owatonna, Red Wing, Rochester, Stewartville, and Winona.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or B CDL with no Airbrake Restriction; obtain Class A with no Airbrake and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months.
• Must pass pre-placement drug test for marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP, MDMA, MDA, MDEA, and 6-AM.
• Must be registered in FMCSA CDL Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
• Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak, and understand information and communicate with the public.
• Experience: 1 year in snow/ice, maintenance, or related activities; education substitution allowed.

Responsibilities

• Maintains roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepares and inspects winter equipment.
• Performs preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Performs winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti-icing/de-icing chemicals.
• Performs work on installing, repairing, maintaining, and removing snow fences and mailboxes.
• Maintains documentation on snow/ice data for inventory and resource management.
• Performs traffic control setups and notifies dispatch of disabled vehicles.
