Job summary

Uniti in Waynesburg, PA is seeking a Construction Technician-Line Worker to install, repair and maintain poles and aerial and underground cables. This safety sensitive, union-backed position requires travel up to 50% of the year, weekend and holiday work, and on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• OSHA 10 Hour Safety required or certificate
• Pole climbing certification required
• Proficient at operating various Construction Equipment

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain poles.
• Install aerial cables (fiber and copper); set up service for customers, installing, connecting, testing, or adjusting equipment as requested.
• Measure signal strength at utility poles, using electronic test equipment.
• Inspect or test lines or cables, recording and analyzing test results, to assess transmission characteristics and locate faults or malfunctions.
• Access areas to string lines or install terminal boxes, equipment, or appliances, using bucket trucks, climbing poles, or ladders.
• String cables between structures and pull lines to proper tension using hoists and other equipment.
• Lay underground cable directly in trenches or through conduits; splice copper and fiber cables as needed.
• Read and interpret staking sheets and blueprints; follow safety procedures and industry standards.
