Job summary

WSP Global Inc. is seeking an experienced Telecommunications Engineer to design and deliver robust telecom infrastructure for utility and industrial clients across the United States. You will lead network design for fiber, microwave, IP networks, and SCADA, while mentoring team members and ensuring safety and quality standards.

The role may involve travel and occasional remote arrangements, with opportunities to collaborate across ESSP projects and a growing, multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, telecommunications engineering, or related engineering discipline; 3+ years of relevant industry experience, or 7+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience designing telecommunications infrastructure or systems for utility, industrial, or commercial facilities.
• Working knowledge of fiber-optic, microwave radio, TDM/SONET, MPLS, Ethernet, and packet-based networks.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation and prepare specifications, network designs, installation plans, and test plans.
• Knowledge of network topologies, latency, synchronization, circuit channelization, reliability and availability.

Responsibilities

• Design telecommunications infrastructure and systems for conventional, renewable, and/or distributed generation facilities, substations, transmission and distribution systems, and microgrids.
• Specify equipment and prepare procurement, installation, testing, and provisioning documentation for outside-plant fiber, microwave radios, and related equipment.
• Review OTDR reports and evaluate fiber-optic links.
• Design and configure network paths for SCADA equipment and downstream data users.
• Mentor and support project team members; ensure quality-control and compliance with codes and client requirements.
