Job summary

WSP is seeking a Telecommunications Engineer - Experienced Professional in Boise, ID to design and implement telecommunications infrastructure for utility and industrial clients across the U.S. The role involves working on ESSP projects, coordinating with vendors such as Cisco, Nokia, Siemens, and others, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, telecommunications engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 7+ years of relevant industry experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience designing telecommunications infrastructure or communications systems for utility, industrial, or commercial facilities.
• Working knowledge of fiber-optic, microwave radio, TDM/SONET, MPLS, Ethernet, and packet-based networks.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation and prepare specifications, network designs, installation plans, and test plans.

Responsibilities

• Design telecommunications infrastructure and systems for conventional, renewable, and distributed generation facilities, substations, transmission and distribution systems, and microgrids.
• Specify equipment and prepare procurement, installation, testing, and provisioning documents for fiber-optic, microwave, PM, and network equipment.
• Review OTDR reports for fiber-optic links and design microwave links using Pathloss or similar tools.
• Coordinate with service providers and conduct site surveys, field work, and commissioning of communications systems.
• Prepare technical reports, design documents, calculations, and test plans; mentor team members and ensure compliance with codes and safety policies.
