WSP is seeking a Telecommunications Engineer with 3+ years of experience (or 7+ years in lieu of a degree) to design and implement telecom infrastructure for utility and commercial facilities. The role involves fiber/microwave, IP/Ethernet networks, field surveys, and coordination with service providers.

Occasional travel and strong safety focus are required. The position offers growth within a global engineering practice with opportunities in Boise, Idaho, and potential cross-office and remote

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or telecommunications engineering or related field and 3+ years of industry experience; or 7+ years of industry experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience designing telecom infrastructure or communications systems for utility, industrial, or commercial facilities.
• Knowledge of fiber-optic, microwave, TDM/SONET, MPLS, Ethernet, and packet-based networks.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation and prepare specifications, network designs, installation plans, and test plans.
• Knowledge of network topologies, latency, synchronization, circuit channelization, reliability, and availability.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Strong organizational skills, multi-priority management, and safety compliance.
• Occasional travel may be required.

Responsabilidades

• Design telecom infrastructure for conventional, renewable, and distributed facilities, substations, and microgrids.
• Specify equipment and prepare procurement, installation, testing, and provisioning documentation.
• Review OTDR reports and design/verify microwave links.
• Provision circuit channelization and evaluate network performance (latency, reliability, availability).
• Coordinate telecommunications carrier services with providers.
• Conduct site surveys and field work using GPS and related tools.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, specs, test plans, and presentations.
• Mentor and support project teams; ensure quality and code compliance.
