Job summary

Altec Industries, Inc. is seeking a field sales professional to generate new business and grow existing accounts in a defined region. You will assess needs, present cost-effective solutions, and provide technical training while building strong customer relationships.

The role requires collaboration with engineers, travel to customer sites, and ongoing development of sales strategies to meet quotas and expand the customer base. Extensive overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Four year bachelor’s degree required.
• Engineering, Marketing, Business preferred.
• Two years outside sales experience with degree, or one year Altec Sales Rep experience with completed training.
• Must be available for extensive overnight travel.
• Current, valid driver’s license required (CDL for some positions).
• Strong verbal and written communication; PC skills with spreadsheets and word processing.
• History of meeting or exceeding quotas; prior performance ratings at or above target.

Responsibilities

• Answer questions about products, prices, availability, uses, and credit terms.
• Arrange for installation and test-operation of machinery.
• Attend sales and trade meetings and read industry publications for market trends.
• Collaborate with colleagues to share selling strategies and marketing information.
• Complete expense and sales reports and other paperwork.
• Provide customers with ongoing technical support and product training.
• Identify prospective customers and discuss needs to tailor products and services.
• Prepare sales presentations and proposals detailing specifications and applications.
• Quote prices, credit terms, and bid specifications; negotiate terms.
• Inform customers of delivery schedules, service contracts, warranties, and other information.
