Job summary

Elsevier’s Advanced Data Solutions team seeks a Technical Consultant (Pre-Sales) to lead technical discovery, design data-driven use cases, and demonstrate integrated data and software solutions. You will shape value narratives, build PoCs, and collaborate with Sales, Product, and Professional Services to ensure feasible, scalable solutions.

The role emphasizes pre-sales activities, strong AI and data expertise, and effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including

Qualifications

• Have a deep understanding of data-driven analytics workflows (in ingestion, enrichment, integration, insight).
• Knowledge of Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, prompt design and agentic workflows.
• Familiarity with cloud ecosystems (AWS) and tech: REST APIs, SFTP, OAuth, Docker, Python.
• Advanced degree or equivalent practical experience in science/tech/data.
• Experience in data-intensive enterprise environments; preferably life sciences or pharma.
• Strong ability to translate data/software into insights and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-sales solution leadership with discovery, architectures and value narratives.
• Design tailored demonstrations showing discovery, analytics, and AI-powered workflows.
• Prepare proposals, PoCs, evaluations and pilots with clear trade-offs and dependencies.
• Act as trusted technical advisor across the sales cycle and cross-functional teams.
• Stay current on AI advances and advise on responsible AI with data governance.
