Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs is seeking an Innovative Teacher Leader—a classroom educator moving into school-wide leadership. This role mentors new teachers, guides county curriculum initiatives, and bridges district strategies with classroom practice.

In addition to teaching, you will participate on the school leadership team, coach peers, and pilot cutting-edge instructional methods, including technology integration and data-driven differentiation. Commitment to 10 specialized trainings is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of successful classroom teaching.
• Proven experience serving on a school leadership team or equivalent.
• Valid State Teaching Certification.
• Current Certified Mentor status or commitment to earn mentor certification upon hire.
• Commitment to continuous learning and attending all 10 specialized trainings; after-hours work may be required.

Responsibilities

• Serve on the school leadership team to shape the school’s academic vision, culture, and goals.
• Act as a liaison between administration and instructional staff to champion innovative practices.
• Provide direction for county curriculum initiatives and ensure alignment with district goals.
• Attend all 10 mandated innovative teacher training sessions and professional development workshops.
• Translate district curriculum changes into actionable classroom strategies for peers.
• Serve as a certified mentor to guide new and developing educators.
• Offer instructional coaching, co-teaching opportunities, and peer observations.
