West Virginia K-12 Jobs seeks an Innovative Teacher Leader, an experienced classroom teacher stepping into a leadership role without administrator duties. This position blends classroom excellence with school-wide leadership, mentoring new teachers and guiding district curriculum initiatives.

Beyond classroom duties, the role bridges county-level curriculum and school execution by mentoring peers, piloting cutting-edge strategies, and partnering with the school principal on strategic goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience.
• Proven experience serving on a school leadership team or in an equivalent building-level leadership capacity.
• Valid State Teaching Certification.
• Current Certified Mentor status, or an explicit commitment to earn mentor certification upon hire.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, including attending all 10 specialized innovative teacher trainings.

Responsibilities

• Serve actively on the school leadership team to shape the school’s academic vision, culture, and strategic goals.
• Act as a liaison between administration and instructional staff to champion innovative practices.
• Provide direction for county curriculum team initiatives, ensuring local school alignment with district goals.
• Attend all mandated innovative teacher training sessions and translate district curriculum changes into actionable classroom strategies for peers.
• Serve as a certified mentor to guide new and developing educators; provide instructional coaching and peer observations.
