Job summary

Hire Consulting Services is seeking a hands-on Tax Manager in the United States (Maryland, Frederick) to own the ASC 740 income tax provision and coordinate outsourced tax functions. You will act as the internal quarterback across external advisors (RSM), sales tax providers (Avalara), and internal stakeholders.

This role sits at the center of tax operations, with accountability for the provision, compliance, and tax planning strategies in a fast-paced, privately backed manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• ASC 740 income tax provision experience.
• C-Corp federal and state tax compliance experience.
• Familiarity with outsourced tax environments (Big 4 / regional firms).
• Working knowledge of Avalara or similar sales tax systems.
• Proven ability to manage audits and interact with tax authorities.
• Strong project management and coordination mindset.
• Ability to operate independently in a hands-on environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the income tax provision process (ASC 740) with current and deferred calculations, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Serve as primary liaison with external tax advisors and oversee federal/state income tax returns and workpapers.
• Oversee outsourced sales/use tax compliance processes and coordinate filings and reconciliations.
• Support tax operations and strategy, including multi-jurisdictional compliance and cash flow forecasting.
• Drive process improvements to improve efficiency and timeliness of tax workflows and deadlines.
