Position Summary

Pearson Virtual Schools (PVS) is hiring a Systems Administrator, local to Baltimore, Maryland, to join our team managing School IT Services for customers nationwide. Candidates should have practical experience in supporting and administering various IT services. We seek someone with hands-on experience and the ability to manage and "get things done" in a highly technical environment. Professional customer service skills and independent troubleshooting are essential.

This position is primarily remote (95%), with 5% in-person attendance for events, school visits, or office work at the local Pearson location. Employees must meet remote work requirements, including home office setup and equipment standards.

Overall Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support, planning, configuration, implementation, and maintenance of school staff and student technology and applications.
  • Assist with escalated support issues, resolving customer problems using troubleshooting techniques.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Windows, ChromeOS, ChromeOS Flex, Apple iPads, and printers.
  • Manage apps on Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and Azure.
  • Configure devices for staff and students, ensuring access to necessary tools.
  • Build, deploy, and maintain servers (domain controllers, web, Linux, SharePoint, DNS/DHCP).
  • Gather and evaluate application functions related to customer needs.
  • Mentor Service Desk teams and act as primary escalation point.
  • Track tickets, prioritize tasks, and participate in stakeholder calls.
  • Collaborate on team projects, document processes, and contribute to knowledge bases.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Technical Capabilities & Proficiencies
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, Endpoint Manager, Active Directory, Windows Server, SQL, Google Cloud, and related technologies.
  • Hardware/software troubleshooting, scripting, and network services.
Experience and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years in systems administration in a large enterprise environment.
  • Availability for on-call, evenings, weekends, and critical outages.
  • Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work remotely in a secure environment with broadband access.
