Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned Systems Engineer to join our team in the United States. The role focuses on designing, developing, and implementing architectures that meet performance, scalability, and security requirements for complex environments.

You will analyze customer needs, capture requirements, and develop OPSCON/CONOPS while maintaining traceability from system to component level. You will stay current with emerging technologies and support deployments through testing and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• 3+ years of experience in systems engineering or related field.
• Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to Top Secret required.
• Strong knowledge of system design, integration, and architecture.
• Experience with system security, data protection protocols, and compliance standards.
• Proficiency in network infrastructure, cloud computing, and virtualization technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement system architectures meeting performance, scalability, and security requirements
• Analyze customer needs and capture and manage requirements
• Develop OPSCON/CONOPS and maintain traceability from system to component level
• Perform modeling and simulation, define verification criteria, conduct requirements sell-off, and validate deployments
• Evaluate and integrate new technologies
• Perform system maintenance, updates, and upgrades
• Analyze system performance and implement efficiency improvements
• Develop and implement system testing protocols
• Diagnose and resolve system issues to minimize downtime and operational disruptions
• Provide technical support for network, hardware, and software configurations
• Document system issues, resolutions, and preventative measures
• Manage tradeoffs among performance, cost, schedule, risk, and other system attributes
• Manage system integration projects and ensure technology interoperability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess requirements and provide technical solutions
• Work with stakeholders to prioritize system enhancements and align program goals
• Create and maintain system documentation, including technical specifications, configurations, and user manuals
• Ensure compliance with security standards, data protection policies, and regulatory requirements
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends
• Support system installations and meet with stakeholders as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field required, or combination of experience and education


• 3+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field


• Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to Top Secret required


• Strong knowledge of system design, integration, and architecture


• Experience with system security, data protection protocols, and compliance standards


• Proficiency in network infrastructure, cloud computing, and virtualization technologies


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to manage complex systems


• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams


• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines


• U.S. citizenship required


• Ability to work at a desk and operate a computer for extended periods


• Occasional lifting of IT equipment or hardware components up to 25 lbs


• Ability to work after-hours or weekends when required


• Some travel may be necessary


• Preferred: Model Based Systems Engineering using UAF or SysML


• Preferred: Experience with automation tools and scripting languages for system/software test


• Preferred: Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines


• Preferred: Familiarity with IT service management frameworks such as ITIL


• Certifications in systems engineering, such as CCNA, MCSE, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect, are a plus
