Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior security-focused systems engineer to administer and secure enterprise Windows and RHEL systems in a DoD environment. The role emphasizes automation with PowerShell, Bash, and Ansible, plus RMF and STIG compliance. Expect advanced virtualization, AD/GPO management, and vulnerability remediation.

The position requires US citizenship, a DoD 8140/8570 IAT II certification, 10+ years in C4I, and strong collaboration across engineering and security teams.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship required.
• DoD Secret Level Security Clearance with a current SSBI/T5 investigation.
• TS/SCI desired.
• DoD 8140/8570 certifications qualified as IAT Level II (e.g., Security+).
• 10+ years of experience with C4I systems focused on systems engineering and cybersecurity support.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Operating System Certifications such as Linux+, Windows Server, CCNA.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, administer, and secure enterprise Windows and RHEL systems.
• Maintain and enforce baseline configurations.
• Administer and optimize VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter environments.
• Support VDI infrastructure.
• Manage endpoint and configuration management.
• Manage Active Directory and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
• Develop and maintain automation using PowerShell, Bash/Linux scripting, and Ansible.
• Serve as subject matter expert for ACAS scanning and analysis.
• Lead system-level vulnerability remediation efforts to closure.
• Implement and manage Trellix, HBSS, and ESS endpoint security solutions.
• Support RMF activities, including control validation, POA&M development, and continuous monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with DISA STIGs, DoD policies, and Navy cybersecurity requirements.
• Provide limited support for Brocade switches, including firmware and baselines.
• Troubleshoot systems in lab and production environments.
• Participate in technical reviews, change management, and engineering boards.
• Produce and review implementation plans, test results, technical reports, and other technical documentation.
• Coordinate and share knowledge within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

• DoD 8140/8570 certifications qualified as Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II, e.g. CompTIA Security+
• 10+ years of experience with C4I systems focused on systems engineering and cybersecurity support
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• Operating System Certificate, e.g. Linux+, Windows Server, CCNA
• Experience supporting Navy C4I environments
• VMware, Microsoft, or Linux enterprise certifications
• Experience supporting classified environments with privileged access
• Experience automating infrastructure provisioning using IaC tools such as Terraform or Ansible
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, and PowerShell
• Experience with CI/CD tools and automation platforms
• Familiarity with containerization and cloud security
• Familiarity with Navy cloud and automation platforms
• Git repository management
• Knowledge of FRCB deployment requirements
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
