About the Opportunity

We are seeking a hands-on Systems Design Engineer to join a Data Center Platform Engineering Group supporting complex server and computing platforms.

This opportunity is ideal for an engineer who enjoys troubleshooting real-world hardware and software issues, debugging GPU-based systems, investigating firmware and operating system failures, and taking ownership of technical issues from initial investigation through resolution.

You will work closely with engineering teams, OEMs, ODMs, and hardware vendors to maintain platform reliability and improve system performance and operational processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex server, hardware, firmware, and operating system issues.
  • Debug CPU/GPU-based platforms and identify root causes of system failures.
  • Monitor and manage incoming technical issues through Jira, prioritizing tickets according to business needs.
  • Troubleshoot BIOS, BMC, firmware, Linux, boot, and system-level problems.
  • Install, replace, and validate server hardware components.
  • Execute automated diagnostic scripts, analyze system logs, and communicate findings.
  • Monitor lab and data center infrastructure for power, network, cooling, and other operational issues.
  • Coordinate with internal engineering teams, OEMs, ODMs, and external vendors to drive issues to closure.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience supporting data center infrastructure, server systems, or complex computing platforms.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills across hardware and software.
  • Practical Linux administration and debugging experience, including log analysis and script execution.
  • Familiarity with BIOS/UEFI, BMC, firmware, and system boot/debugging processes.
  • Experience with ticketing systems such as Jira.
  • Ability to replace hardware components and work directly with physical server systems.
  • Strong communication, documentation, prioritization, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work onsite and accommodate schedule or travel requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience troubleshooting GPU-based servers, accelerators, or CPU/GPU platforms.
  • Bash, Python, or other scripting experience.
  • Familiarity with PCIe, server integration, hardware validation, or HPC infrastructure.
  • Exposure to liquid cooling, power distribution, networking, and data center monitoring.
  • Experience with hardware lab tools, including oscilloscopes or firmware programming tools.
  • Experience coordinating technical investigations with OEMs, ODMs, or hardware vendors.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
  • Work on complex, high-performance computing and data center platforms.
  • Apply hands-on hardware and software debugging skills.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and technology partners.
  • Join a 12-month contract opportunity with potential for extension.

This is an onsite contract position. Pay rate is $50–$70/hour, subject to experience and final confirmation. Travel flexibility and occasional overtime may be required.
