Job summary

VOA Northern California and Northern Nevada seeks a Swing Shift Support Staff member for Our Place, a shelter serving women and families experiencing homelessness. Shift runs 2:00 PM–10:30 PM, Wednesday through Sunday, onsite at the campus.

The role supports daily shelter operations, safety, and resident services in a busy environment. Responsibilities include meals, housing services, property management, and maintaining a respectful, secure atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Must communicate and comprehend oral and written instructions.
• Experience working with homeless populations or shelter environments preferred.
• Ability to de-escalate crises and assist residents and staff in emergencies.
• Flexible hours; ability to work irregular shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide awake shift coverage and maintain ground security.
• Coordinate meal preparation, bed assignments, and daily routines.
• Assist participants with property management and shelter services.
• Maintain safety, sanitation, and documentation for shifts.
