VOA Northern California & Northern Nevada is seeking an Overnight Full Time Shelter Support Staff member for the X Street Navigation Center in Sacramento. The role runs 10:00 PM–6:30 AM, supporting residents, enforcing rules, and coordinating meals and daily routines.

Qualifications

• Experience communicating and assisting clients from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to de-escalate crisis situations and assist residents and staff in emergencies.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Ensure quality service in a safe, non-judgmental manner for program participants.
• Explain program rules, coordinate meals, sleeping areas, and daily routines.
• Provide awake shift coverage and conduct hourly safety checks.
• Respond to crises appropriately and document incidents.
• Maintain daily reports and handle basic clerical duties on shift.
• Communicate clearly with residents and staff; support program objectives.
• Assist in safety, security, and confidentiality adherence across duties.
• Support volunteers and model positive behavior for residents’ independence.
