Job summary

VOA-NCNN is seeking a Variable hour, Day or Swing Shift Support Staff for Our Place Shelter. The role focuses on compassionate, nonjudgmental resident support, daily operations, and maintaining safety and order in a housing-focused shelter serving women, families, and individuals.

You will assist with meals, housekeeping, inventory, and client documentation while coordinating with case managers and staff to meet program objectives.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to communicate and comprehend instructions.
• Experience serving participants in homeless services is a plus.
• Must have CPR and First Aid training within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Explain program rules and assist residents with daily routines.
• Coordinate meals, sleeping assignments, showers, laundry, and related tasks.
• Provide awake shift coverage and engage with residents on grounds.
• Perform safety, sanitation, and daily reports; maintain logs.
• Assist with property management and boutique operations.
• Respond to participant questions and concerns and document incidents.
• De-escalate crises and support staff during emergencies.
• Participate in training and staff development as required.
