Job summary

Volunteers of America Northern California and Northern Nevada seeks an Overnight Shift Support Staff member for Our Place Shelter. The position runs 10:00 PM–6:30 AM, assisting women and families in a housing-focused shelter, coordinating meals, security, and daily routines on a 20-acre campus.

Applicants must be able to work irregular hours, communicate effectively, and complete CPR/First Aid training within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate and comprehend oral and written instructions.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours including overnight shifts.
• Must obtain CPR and First Aid training within 90 days of employment.
• Must undergo a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety and quality service to program participants in a supportive, nonjudgmental manner.
• Assist with daily shelter operations and program objectives.
• Coordinate meal preparation, sleeping assignments, showers, laundering, and daily routines.
• Maintain daily shift logs and incident reports; document participant concerns.
• De-escalate crises and respond to emergencies with calm, professional action.
• Support inventory and property management for participant belongings.
