Job summary

Volunteers of America Northern California & Northern Nevada, Inc. seeks Day Shift Support Staff for Our Place, Family Home, a housing-focused shelter for women and families experiencing homelessness.

The 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM shift covers care, safety, housekeeping and client services to support housing placement. Responsibilities include compassionate, nonjudgmental service, daily reports, property management, boutique assistance and incident documentation, with CPR/First Aid certification required

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate and comprehend oral and written instructions.
• Understand homelessness and crisis-related issues.
• Must have CPR and First Aid training within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Explain program rules and regulations to residents and facilitate observance.
• Coordinate meal prep, bed assignments, showers, laundering, and daily routines.
• Provide awake shift coverage and maintain an engaging presence on grounds.
• Conduct safety and sanitation checks; maintain daily reports with statistics.
• Perform housekeeping tasks and prepare rooms for next participant.
• Maintain clear communication with participants and staff; respond to questions and concerns.
