Job summary

Volunteers of America Northern California and Northern Nevada seeks Day Shift Support Staff for Our Place, a housing-focused shelter for women and families experiencing homelessness. The role runs 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM and offers full-time hours with a comprehensive benefits package.

You will provide compassionate, nonjudgmental support, assist with daily living activities, monitor safety, coordinate meals and maintain records, while ensuring a welcoming environment and coordinating with shelter

Qualifications

• Teamwork and communication are essential for assisting participants and staff.
• Clear, respectful communication with residents is required.
• Ability to de-escalate crisis situations and assist residents and staff in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide awake shift coverage and maintain ground security.
• Explain program rules and assist residents with daily routines.
• Coordinate meals, bedding, laundry and other daily tasks.
• Maintain safety and security of residents and property.
• Document shifts, logs and incident reports.
• Assist participants with clothing donations and Boutique operations.
