Volunteers of America Northern California & Northern Nevada, Inc. is hiring for the Day Shift Support Staff position at Our Place, Women’s Shelter in Sparks, NV.

The role runs 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM and focuses on delivering compassionate service while maintaining safety and housing stability for women and families experiencing homelessness. The role includes coordinating meals, daily routines, property management, training new staff, and crisis de-escalation.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate and comprehend oral and written instructions.
• Understanding of issues related to homelessness and assisting participants.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours and be a team member.
• CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Explain program rules to residents and facilitate observance of the rules.
• Coordinate meal preparation/service, bed assignments, showers, laundry and daily routines.
• Provide awake shift coverage and maintain an engaging presence on the grounds.
• Conduct wellness, safety and sanitation checks during designated periods.
• Maintain daily reports and incident logs, and complete shift documentation.
• Assist with participant property management and boutique operations.
• De-escalate crises and respond to emergencies alongside staff.
