Job summary

Hy-Vee Gretna is hiring a Sushi Chef to lead the sushi program, prepare fresh sushi, and ensure top quality and presentation for customers. The role includes training the Sushi Clerk, managing orders, and maintaining sanitation standards in a fast-paced store environment.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, Hy-Vee food safety training, and 1–3 years of related experience, with a strong focus on customer service and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Hy-Vee food safety training and Food Safety Certification required.
• 1–3 years of similar or related experience preferred; prior meal preparation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fresh sushi for customers, packaged or made-to-order, with focus on quality, accuracy and freshness.
• Greet customers and deliver outstanding service, remembering names and going the extra mile.
• Take orders at counter/phone; communicate with customers about food preparation.
• Oversee sushi program planning, ordering, and scheduling with the team.
• Assist in merchandising and arranging sushi products for optimal display.
• Train and support the Sushi Clerk to maintain quality and a positive work environment.
