Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to be an integral part of the perioperative team as a first, second, or assisting technician or second circulator under RN supervision.

The role requires completing specified field of study and BLS certification within 30 days. The position emphasizes asepsis, instrument readiness, and collaboration with OR staff to ensure patient safety and efficient room turnover.

Qualifications

• Independently scrubs basic surgical procedures.
• Demonstrates ability to problem solve in relation to the procedure.
• Applies knowledge of anatomy, physiology, microbiology and pharmacology for patient care.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment using aseptic technique.
• Assists in organizing supplies and equipment to keep department efficient.
• Facilitates communication between nursing units and OR team.
• Documents data and patient charts per standards.
• Transcribes orders and schedules tests and exams as directed.
• Prepares patients for transport and assists with ADLs.
• Maintains accurate logs of admissions and transfers.
