Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to join the perioperative team as a first, second, or assisting technician or second circulator under the supervision of an RN. The role emphasizes asepsis, instrument handling, and collaboration with surgeons and OR staff to ensure ready trays and supplies for each procedure.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s Degree or Surgical Technology training and BLS certification, with the ability to work across obstetrical and general procedures in

Qualifications

• Independently scrubs basic surgical procedures.
• Applies knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology.
• Demonstrates sterile technique and perioperative teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment and asepsis throughout procedures.
• Organizes supplies and equipment for cost-effective operations.
• Communicates with nursing staff and other units to coordinate tests and scheduling.
• Documents patient data and orders accurately in charts and records.
• Transports patients as needed and assists with daily activities.
• Supports room turnover and instrument cleaning after procedures.
