Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the perioperative team as the first, second, or assisting surgical technician or second circulator under the supervision of the RN.

The candidate will scrub basic procedures, apply sterile technique, and collaborate with surgeons and OR staff to prepare trays and supplies for each procedure. BLS required within 30 days; an Associate's degree or Surgical Technology certification is expected.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or Surgical Technology certification.
• BLS certification within 30 days (AHA).
• Independently scrubs basic procedures and applies sterile technique.

Responsibilities

• Maintains asepsis to keep a sterile environment.
• Organizes supplies and equipment for efficient operations.
• Facilitates communication between units and nursing staff; acts as liaison.
• Collects patient data as directed by RN and performance standards.
• Documents patient records accurately and timely.
• Transcribes orders and schedules tests and appointments.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and prepares for transport.
• Maintains accurate patient logs and ensures charges are entered.
• Participates in quality improvement and infection control activities.
• Assists with inventory control and supply chain management.
• Collaborates with surgeons and OR team to ensure trays and supplies are ready.
