Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a dedicated Surgical Technician to join our perioperative team. The technician serves as first, second, or assisting scrub or second circulator under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, delivering safe patient care through asepsis and precise instrumentation.

The role emphasizes teamwork, documentation, and efficient supply management across procedures. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance are available to qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Independently scrubs basic surgical procedures and provides sterile technique.
• Understands anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology and pharmacology.
• Demonstrates problem solving in relation to the procedure being performed.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment and asepsis during procedures.
• Organizes supplies and equipment for an efficient department.
• Facilitates communication with nursing staff and other departments.
• Collects data and documents in patient records per standards.
• Transcribes orders and schedules tests and examinations.
• Prepares patients for transport and assists with activities of daily living.
• Maintains logs of admissions, discharges, and transfers.
• Ensures charges are entered accurately.
