Job summary

Carle Health in Hartford, CT seeks a Surgical Technician to support the perioperative team as an integral member. The role may involve scrubbing, second circulator duties, or assisting the RN under supervision. Sign-on and relocation bonuses are available.

Essential duties include maintaining asepsis, assisting with supplies, and coordinating with the OR team to ensure readiness of trays and instruments. Strong teamwork and communication are required.

Qualifications

• Independently scrubs basic surgical procedures.
• Applied knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology for perioperative care.
• Understands principles of sterile technique and asepsis.
• Demonstrates teamwork within the OR and perioperative team.
• Maintains clear communication with RN and OR staff.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment using asepsis principles.
• Organizes supplies and equipment for efficient operation.
• Facilitates communication between units and nursing staff.
• Documents patient data and orders accurately.
• Schedules tests and exams as directed by the RN and unit standards.
• Prepares patients for transport and assists with activities of daily living.
• Collaborates with surgeons and OR team to ensure trays and supplies are ready.
