Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to assist in the perioperative team as a scrub, circulator, or assisting technician under RN supervision. The role includes asepsis, coordination of supplies, and collaboration with surgeons to ensure readiness for each procedure.

Qualifications

• Assists in sterile technique and asepsis.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology and pharmacology.
• Demonstrates problem-solving during procedures and basic use of electronics/robotics/lasers where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment and asepsis in procedures.
• Organizes supplies and equipment for efficient operations.
• Facilitates communication between units and nursing staff.
• Documents patient data and orders accurately in records.
• Schedules tests, consults, diagnostics and exams.
• Prepares patients for transport and assists with daily living activities.
• Assists with room turnover and instrument sterilization.
• Collaborates with surgeons and OR team to prep trays and supplies.
