Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to join the perioperative team as a first, second, or assisting technician or second circulator under the direct supervision of the RN. This role emphasizes maintaining sterility and supporting the OR team throughout procedures.

The position includes a sign-on bonus and relocation bonus; ideal candidates hold an Associate's Degree or Surgical Technology certificate with BLS certification and a focus on asepsis, safety, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Independently scrubs basic surgical procedures.
• Demonstrates ability to problem solve during procedures.
• Applies knowledge of anatomy, physiology, terminology, microbiology and pharmacology to patient care.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment; ensures asepsis and proper technique.
• Assists with organization of supplies and equipment.
• Facilitates communication with nursing staff and other departments.
• Collects patient data as directed by RN and contributes to performance standards.
• Documents patient information accurately in charts and records.
• Transcribes orders and schedules tests and appointments.
• Prepares patients for transport and assists with transfers.
• Maintains logs of admissions, discharges and transfers.
