Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to join the perioperative team under the supervision of the RN. The role spans first, second, or assisting technician responsibilities and emphasizes asepsis, instrumentation readiness, and timely communication with the OR team.

Responsibilities include maintaining sterile technique, coordinating supplies, documenting care, and assisting with patient transport. Sign-on and relocation bonuses are available to eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Independently scrubs basic surgical procedures.
• Applied knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, microbiology and pharmacology for patient care.
• Applies principles of sterile technique during procedures.
• Demonstrates knowledge of perioperative teamwork and patient care concepts.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment using asepsis principles.
• Organizes and coordinates supplies and equipment for efficiency.
• Facilitates communication between units and nursing staff.
• Documents patient data and orders accurately in records.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and prepares for transport.
• Collaborates with surgeons and OR team to ensure trays and instruments are ready.
