Job summary

The Surgical Technician at Carle Health plays a vital role in the perioperative team, serving as first, second, or assisting technician or second circulator under the direct supervision of an RN.

This role emphasizes aseptic technique, sterile processing, and close collaboration with surgeons and the OR team to ensure timely preparation of trays, instruments, and supplies for procedures, while supporting patient care throughout the unit.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or Surgical Technology certificate required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire (AHA).
• Ability to scrub basic surgical procedures and apply sterile technique.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sterile environment using aseptic principles.
• Coordinate supplies and equipment to support efficient department.
• Communicate with nursing staff and other departments as needed.
• Document patient data and orders as directed.
• Assist with room turnover and instrument prep.
