Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to join the perioperative team as a first, second, or assisting technician under RN supervision. Responsibilities include maintaining sterile technique, preparing instruments, coordinating supplies, and communicating with nursing staff to support efficient patient care.

Qualified candidates hold an Associate's Degree or Surgical Technology credential, plus BLS certification within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree and/or Surgical Technology program completion required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Independently scrubs basic surgical procedures and supports perioperative care.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment using asepsis principles.
• Organizes supplies and equipment for efficient workflow.
• Facilitates communication between units and nursing staff.
• Records patient data and transcribes orders per standards.
• Assists with scheduling tests and preparing patient charts.
• Assists with activities of daily living as needed.
• Keeps admission/discharge/transfer logs up to date.
• Ensures proper patient charge documentation.
• Participates in quality improvement and infection control initiatives.
• Collaborates with surgeons and OR team to prep trays and instruments.
