Job summary

Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support surgical teams by maintaining sterile fields, assembling instruments, and assisting surgeons during procedures. The role requires completing an accredited Surgical Technologist program and holding NBSTSA/NCCT certification, with BLS and 1–2 years of hospital scrub tech experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associate degree in Surgical Technology preferred.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program is required.
• Certification through NCCT or NBSTSA is required.
• 1-2 years of Scrub Tech experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assists with asepsis; performs surgical scrub, gowning and gloving.
• Assembles supplies according to procedure requirements.
• Sets up sterile instrument table and assists in draping.
• Anticipates surgeon needs for instruments, sutures, and supplies.
• Maintains count of sponges, needles, and instruments with RN.
• Maintains aseptic technique and handles contamination promptly.
• Labels and handles specimens per policy; documents properly.
• Inspects instruments for sterility and function before use.
• Receives and labels solutions/medications on the sterile field.
• Participates in Universal Protocol; sign in, time out, sign out.
