Job summary

You will collaborate with nurses and physicians, participate in Universal Protocol, and uphold safety and education standards to deliver safe, high-quality patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Applies aseptic principles; performs surgical scrub, gowning, and gloving.
• Assembles supplies per patient and procedure requirements.
• Sets up sterile instrument table and assists in draping.
• Anticipates surgeon needs for instruments, sutures, and supplies.
• Maintains accurate sponge/needle/instrument counts with circulating nurse.
• Maintains aseptic technique and corrects contamination when needed.
• Assists with specimen handling and disposition per policy.
• Inspects instruments, trays, and packages for sterility and completeness.
• Receives and labels solutions and meds on the sterile field.
• Participates in Universal Protocol and time-out processes.
• Participates in Fire Risk Assessment and safety measures.
• Demonstrates use of equipment and reports malfunctions.
• Maintains sharps safety and guides team in safe handling.
• Keeps organized back table and uses pre-cleansing before decontam area.
• Assists with OR cleanup as needed.
• Maintains safety measures at all times.
• Maintains professional relationships with team members.
• Maintains knowledge through continuing education and certifications.
• Contributes to high-quality patient outcomes through collaboration.
