Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology is required.
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider is required.
• Current NBSTSA or NCCT certification is required.
• 5 years of total operating room experience in a surgical technologist role is required.
• Meets all ST III qualifications of Surgical Tech Ladder.
• Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development and age-specific patient care.

Responsibilities

• Possesses thorough knowledge of aseptic technique and its application.
• Assists in obtaining and organizing supplies and instruments before, during and after procedures.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Assists RN circulator in patient prep, supplies, equipment, and specimen disposition; supports room turnover.
• Works with heightened specialized procedures: neurosurgery/spine, cardiothoracic, vascular, complex orthopedics, robotics.
• Monitors sterility of supplies and instrumentation and documents charges accurately.
• Attends in-services and participates in Performance Improvement processes.
• Pursues education to increase competency and meets personal goals.
• Assists in developing policies, procedures, and standards.
• Serves as a preceptor and clinical resource to others.
