Job summary

Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to join our operating room team. The role requires aseptic technique mastery and cooperation with the Registered Nurse circulator to prepare patients, assemble instruments, and ensure proper specimen handling.

The ideal candidate has OR experience, basic life support, and education from an accredited surgical technology program. This position supports a 3-shift pattern with 12-hour days and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology required or successful completion of military training program for Surgical Technology or Operating Room Specialist.
• 2 years of operating room experience in surgical technologist role required.
• Current certification preferred through NBSTSA or NCCT.
• Meets all ST II qualifications of Surgical Tech Ladder.

Responsibilities

• Assists in aseptic technique and its application.
• Assists in obtaining and organizing supplies and instruments before, during and after surgical procedures; assists with room turnover.
• Assists RN circulator in patient prep, assembly of supplies, instruments, equipment and disposition of specimens.
• Performs duties according to department policy and procedure.
• Monitors sterilization activities and ensures proper documentation and usage of supplies.
• Attends in-services and participates in Performance Improvement Process.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program

2 years operating room experience in surgical technologist role

Current NBSTSA or NCCT certification (preferred)

Meets all ST II qualifications of Surgical Tech Ladder
