Job summary

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a commitment to excellent patient care. The role requires NBSTSA CST certification and current BLS, 3-5 years of recent surgical tech experience, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and EMR.

Qualifications

• The CST certification offered by NBSTSA.
• Current BLS Certification.
• 3-5 years recent Surgical Technician experience including at least six months in the past year.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EMR.
• Experience on a military site working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor preferred.
• Graduate from an accredited surgical technician program or military equivalent training with Certificate of Completion (e.g. 68D, HM8483, 4N1x1).
• Medical Tech or related field.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room by assembling surgical instruments, equipment, and necessary supplies.
• Assist in the positioning of patients and ensuring their safety during surgical procedures.
• Maintain a sterile field and ensure compliance with established infection control standards.
• Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon and surgical team during operations.
• Monitor the patient’s condition and alert the surgical team to any changes during procedures.
• Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
• Assist with post-operative care, including transferring patients to recovery areas and ensuring a smooth transition.
• Document surgical procedures and maintain accurate records of all supplies used.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Actively participates in Mass Casualty exercises and events.
