Job summary

Baylor Medical Center Lake Pointe- Rowlett is hiring a Surgical Technologist 2 for day shift in the Surgery unit. The role involves assisting the surgical team with instrument setup, patient prep, and maintaining a sterile field under RN supervision.

We value infection control and adherence to safety guidelines. Required education includes an accredited surgical technologist program and BLS; CST certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Experience: Less than 1 year.
• BLS required; CST certification per NBSTSA/NCCT or equivalent. Military/public health service ST training acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Scrub in and prepare instruments before the surgeon scrubs in.
• Prepare operative site and clip patient as needed.
• Maintain instrument table and ensure proper counts.
• Identify damaged trays and rectify discrepancies.
• Set up OR per procedure and arrange sterile supplies.
• Assist with draping, positioning, and passing instruments.
• Receive surgical specimens and ensure proper handling.
• Disassemble and decontaminate instruments after cases.
• Follow infection control policies and OSHA guidelines.
• Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
