Job summary

Qualifications

• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• Formal OR program graduate or LPN with OR experience
• Must become certified surgical technologist within 6 months.
• Registration with VA Board of Medicine as Surgical Technologist required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with care team to form patient care plan.
• Communicates safe therapeutic care throughout perioperative period.
• Prepares OR rooms with instruments, sutures, supplies, equipment.
• Follows aseptic technique in opening sterile supplies.
• Drapes patients and assists during procedures.
• Assists in turnover of room between cases.
• Provides input for changes to physician preference cards.
• Maintains a safe and orderly environment.
• Participates in infection control and quality improvement.
• Demonstrates effective communication and teamwork.
