Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist nursing staff by communicating patient status changes and preparing OR rooms with necessary equipment. You will collaborate with the care team to implement the patient plan of care and support perioperative procedures.

Qualifications include HS diploma, BLS, and OR tech program; Virginia LPN with OR experience or seven years OR experience are considered. Certification within 6 months is required, with VA board registration.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• Graduate of OR Technology/ Surgical Scrub Tech/ Surgical Technology program (six months experience preferred).
• LPN eligible to practice in Virginia with one year operating room experience.
• Trained Scrub/Operating Room Tech with a minimum of seven (7) years hospital operating room experience.
• Must become a Certified Surgical Technologist within 6 months of hire.
• Registration with the Virginia Board of Medicine as a Surgical Technologist required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with care team to form patient care plan.
• Communicates safe therapeutic care throughout perioperative experience.
• Maintains and cares for equipment; prepares OR rooms with instruments and supplies.
• Drapes patients and assists surgical team during procedures.
• Assists in turnover of rooms between cases.
• Provides input for changes to physician preference cards.
• Maintains safe and orderly environment.
• Participates in infection control and quality improvement.
• Demonstrates effective communication and teamwork.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
