Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• Graduate of OR Technology, Surgical Scrub Tech, or Surgical Technology program (six months experience preferred).
• LPN eligible to practice in Virginia with one year OR experience; OR scrub tech with seven years OR experience; must become CST within 6 months of hire.
• Registration with the Virginia Board of Medicine as a Surgical Technologist required (as of December 2021).

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with care team to form a patient care plan and supports perioperative goals.
• Communicates safe therapeutic care throughout the perioperative experience.
• Prepares OR rooms with instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment; follows aseptic technique.
• Drapes patients and assists the surgical team; supports room turnover between cases.
• Maintains safe, orderly environment and participates in infection control and quality improvement.
