Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare in Fredericksburg, VA is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team, prepare rooms with necessary equipment, and assist during procedures.

You will collaborate with nurses and surgeons, handle instruments, maintain aseptic technique, and help ensure patient safety throughout the perioperative process. The role includes infection control participation and ongoing professional growth.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• Graduate of an approved OR Tech program or Surgical Scrub Tech with six months experience preferred.
• LPN eligible to practice in Virginia with OR experience or trained Scrub Tech with seven years OR experience.
• Must become a Certified Surgical Technologist within 6 months of hire.
• Virginia Board of Medicine registration as Surgical Technologist required (per 2021).

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with care team to form patient plan of care and achieve outcomes.
• Communicates safe therapeutic care during perioperative experience.
• Prepares OR rooms with instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment; maintains aseptic technique.
• Drapes patients and assists surgical team during procedures.
• Assists in turnover of rooms between cases.
• Provides input for changes to physician cards per surgeon's request.
• Maintains safe and orderly environment; participates in infection control and quality improvement.
• Demonstrates effective communication, customer service, and teamwork.
