Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare in Fredericksburg, VA, is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the OR team. Under supervision, you will prep rooms, assist with procedures, and help maintain safety and infection control. Requires a formal OR tech program and 1 year cardiac OR experience; certification within 6 months; VA board registration.

The successful candidate will demonstrate critical thinking, teamwork, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced perioperative environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• AHA BLS CPR required at hire.
• Graduate of OR Technology, Surgical Scrub Tech, or Surgical Technology program.
• 1 year Cardiac Operating Room experience required.
• Internal associates: CBOT competency training within 9 months of placement.
• Must become Certified Surgical Technologist within 6 months of hire.
• Virginia Board of Medicine registration as Surgical Technologist required since Dec 2021.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with care team to form the patient's plan of care to achieve outcomes.
• Communicates safe therapeutic care throughout perioperative experience.
• Prepares OR rooms with instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment; follows aseptic technique.
• Drapes patients and assists the surgical team during procedures.
• Assists in turnover of room between cases.
• Provides input for changes to physician preference cards as requested.
• Maintains safe and orderly environment; participates in infection control and quality improvement.
• Demonstrates effective communication, customer service, and teamwork.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
