Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• Graduate programs include OR Technology/Surgical Scrub Tech (6 months preferred).
• LPN eligible to practice in Virginia with 1 year OR experience.
• Must become CST within 6 months of hire.
• Virginia Surgical Technologist registration required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with care team to form patient plan of care for perioperative outcomes.
• Communicates safe therapeutic care during the perioperative experience.
• Maintains and cares for equipment and supplies.
• Prepares OR rooms with instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment.
• Follows aseptic technique when opening sterile supplies and setting up procedures.
• Drapes patients and assists the surgical team during operations.
• Assists in turnover of rooms between cases.
• Provides input for changes to physician preference cards as requested.
• Maintains a safe and orderly environment.
• Participates in infection control and quality improvement initiatives.
• Demonstrates effective communication, customer service, and teamwork.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Graduate of OR Technology / Surgical Scrub Tech program

Licensed Practical Nurse eligible to practice in Virginia

Trained Scrub/Operating Room Tech with 7+ years OR experience
