Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist in Ohio to facilitate operative procedures by preparing sterile instruments and maintaining the sterile field. The role supports the surgical team, ensures aseptic technique, and participates in ongoing education and safety measures.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, and a Surgical Technology credential with BLS. Prior perioperative experience is preferred; on-call availability is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree or cert in Surgical Technology required, unless Labor and Delivery unit in Ohio is being hired for then preferred.
• One year of perioperative/operating room/surgical tech experience preferred.
• BLS Basic Life Support certification required (American Heart Association).

Responsibilities

• Functions as the scrub person during operative and invasive procedures; assembles supplies and equipment.
• Prepares and organizes sterile supplies and instruments; performs surgical counts with circulating RN.
• Maintains sterile field and supplies; provides instruments to the surgical team and maintains aseptic technique.
• Retrieves and labels specimens; reports implanted devices, catheters, and drains.
• Assists with pre/post procedure cleaning and patient safety measures; participates in orientation and training.
