Job summary

Mercy Health in Youngstown, OH is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. The role requires scrubbing during procedures, organizing sterile supplies, and maintaining aseptic technique throughout cases.

You will prepare sterile instruments, perform surgical counts, and assist with specimen handling. Commitment to patient safety and teamwork is essential, with on-call availability as scheduled.

Qualifications

• Certification as Surgical Technologist (CST) or NBSTSA/TS-C preferred.
• BLS required or preferred prior to independent patient care.
• Education in Surgical Technology is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Functions as the scrub person and assists during operative procedures by assembling supplies and equipment.
• Prepares and organizes sterile supplies and instruments and performs surgical counts with the circulating RN.
• Maintains an organized sterile field and ensures sterility, assists with drapes and provides instruments to the team.
• Retrieves and labels specimens correctly for pathology or labs.
• Reports implanted devices, catheters, drains, and packing to the circulator.
