Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a part-time Surgical Technologist to join the operating room team in Ohio. You will scrub in during operative and other invasive procedures, assemble instruments, maintain the sterile field, and assist the surgical team throughout the procedure.

The role requires completing an Associate degree or military certificate in Surgical Technology, active CST/ NBSTA/ TS-C or NCCT certification, and a willingness to be on-call.

Qualifications

• Must be certified by CST, NBSTA or TS-C or NCCT.
• BLS certification preferred at hire from approved source prior to direct patient care.
• Associates Degree, Vocational Certification, or Military Certificate in Surgical Technology (required).
• One year of perioperative, operating room, or related military surgical technology experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Functions as the scrub person and assists during operative and invasive procedures by assembling supplies and equipment.
• Prepares and organizes sterile supplies and instrument for the procedure and performs surgical counts with the circulating RN.
• Maintains an organized sterile field and assists with placement of sterile drapes and provides instruments to the surgical team.
• Retrieves and collects specimens and labels specimens appropriately.
• Reports implanted devices, catheters, drains, and packing to circulator.
• Assists with pre and post procedure cleaning of the operative or invasive procedure room and necessary instruments.
• Participates in patient safety care measures and on-call as scheduled.
