Job summary

Mercy Health in Lorain is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support operative and invasive procedures. You will prepare sterile instruments, maintain the sterile field, and assist the surgical team through counts, instrument delivery, and specimen labeling.

The role requires BLS certification and a HS diploma plus tech-certification. The position runs nights, with a 36-hour work week, weekend and holiday rotation, and on-call availability.

Qualifications

• BLS Basic Life Support certification required.
• Surgical technology education: HS diploma/GED plus associate/vocational/military cert.
• One year perioperative experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Scrub person during procedures; assemble supplies and equipment.
• Prepare sterile supplies and instruments; perform surgical counts.
• Maintain sterile field and aseptic technique; assist with drapes and instrument passage.
• Retrieve and label specimens; report implants to circulator.
• Assist with pre/post procedure cleaning of the room and instruments.
• Participate in patient safety and on-call duties.
• Support orientation of new staff and students.
